Fill in the Gaps

EarsDB is a work in progress. However, with the passing of time, too much information has been destroyed or lost. If you have any information relating to the shows listed in EarsDB or if not listed please let us know

  • Any Show not listed in EarsDB
  • Additional information on listed series
  • Episode Listings
    • Have you the recordings?
    • Can you write a short description of each episode?
    • Before commencing though please Contact Us...

We Need Your Memories

If you were a part of Australian Radio, no matter how small a part, or you had a relative who was involved in Australian Radio, please tell us the details so they may be included in Earsdb.

Write a few words about the part played, an anecdote or two, let all of us remember you or them. Contact Us...

Talent Show Quiz Contestants

One of the most common requests we receive via our sister site

www.australianotr.com.au

are the requests from descendants trying to find a recording of Mum or Dad or Grandparents and Uncles and Aunts etc who were contestants on the many Australian Quiz/Amateur or Variety Shows.

We do understand the joy this brings when we do put people in touch with such a recording. One of the important projects we have commenced is documenting those shows and the names of the contestants. You will see the results in future updates of Earsdb.Contact Us...

General Help

We rely on many sources for information. We have a huge collective library spread amongst our volunteers, but we are always looking for more Radio magazines like

  • Radio Pictorial
  • Wireless Weekly
  • Listener In
  • Broadcaster
  • B&TV
  • Radio Times (Melb)
  • others magazines that contain information on shows and the people involved.
  • Any letters or other documentation that relate to people or shows
  • Contact Us Now...

We do not need the originals themselves, good quality scans of the pages are all that we need.

If you require help in getting this information to us, please do not hesitate in contacting us

Recordings

Recordings of radio shows in various formats are also needed.

Grandpa, who was a radio announcer in the 1940s and kept a pile of Transcription Discs (big LP's) under his bed, may have the only copies of those shows known to exist.

The show or contents are the important thing, not the disc or tape.

Preservation

Please assist in preserving these windows to Australian history and our way of life, by making the shows available.

As stated we are not after the originals these should be placed with organisations so that all can see, hear and have access to them

If you have any recording magazine or document that you feel warrants preservation please contact The National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra or your State Library.

Our motto is:
If an item cannot be seen or heard, has it really been preserved?

Regional Radio

In the main to date the database is Melbourne/Sydney centric. This is not by design but opportunity in that most of the available material has been from, or about radio in, those states.

Again we would like to build up more information on any capital city other than Melbourne or Sydney and any regional station.
